Your
Rooms at The Cross Keys cottage in Wales
The
Cross Keys is a Grade II listed cottage in Llandderfel,
a traditional Welsh village in the Lower Dee Valley. Originally a
late-Georgian hostelry, it is now a quirky but comfortable, traditional
but well-equipped holiday cottage sleeping six comfortably in four
bedrooms.
Semi-detached,
it has two rooms on each of three floors. In keeping with their age (but
adding to their charm), none is square and ceilings (all of them beamed)
are not high! There is a small garden behind, but not attached to, the
cottage. The entrance leads to a small hallway with staircase rising
from it. To the left is the kitchen and to the right is the living room.
The
cleverly-designed kitchen/dining area has a range of hand-crafted units
with slate work surfaces and a belfast sink; a hob, built-under oven/grill,
microwave oven/grill, washing machine/dryer and larder fridge (freezer
in the cellar below). There is a multi-fuel stove and an electric storage
heater.
The
living room is comfortably furnished with sofa and chairs and has a multi-fuel
stove and an electric heater. There is freeview TV, radio, CD, DVD and
video players, along with a good selection of games and books.
On the first floor,
the bedroom to the right is furnished as a single but can become a twin
room. The bedroom to the left is a double with a large built-in wardrobe/closet.
Both have thermostatically-controlled electric heaters.
The
compact shower room has modern equipment including basin, wc, bidet and
heated towel rail.
SLEEPS
6 + COT
A
narrow staircase (mind your head!) leads to two bedrooms on the second
floor. These lead one into the other and can make a spacious family room.
The first bedroom is large with a beamed, sloping ceiling and a king-sized
bed. The smaller second bedroom
has a day bed and trundle with sprungmattresses. Both rooms have fitted
carpets and thermostatically-controlled heaters.
